How do you install the widget factory? [Solved]

Postby spikeyb » Sat Jun 20, 2009 8:26

I have downloaded the widget factory and extracted the two files: PyTWF.py and twf.builder.

What do I do now? I have clicked the files, tried to make them executable, tried ./configure and ./make but nothing seems to work.

Can anyone tell me what I should be doing or typing into the terminal.

If you want to install something you should first see if it is available as a sabayon package and if it is not, then try requesting the program

Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once!

Thanks joeoden, I may well put in a request as it is not in the packages.

I was hoping there was a way to install it anyway. I'm just not knowledgeable enough to know the correct commands to use.

PyWF is a Python module, isn't it? Have a look at the instructions on the Python.Org Web page Installing Python Module.

Not that I've tried it myself, but I think installation should be something along the following lines:

Download 102024-PyWF_1-0-2.tar.bz2 to your Desktop and then do the following in a Terminal/Konsole window:

Code: Select all
$ mkdir -p /home/spikeyb/PyTWF/
$ mv /home/spikeyb/Desktop/102024-PyWF_1-0-2.tar.bz2 /home/spikeyb/Desktop/PyWF/102024-PyWF_1-0-2.tar.bz2
$ cd /home/spikeyb/Desktop/PyWF/
$ tar -jxvf 102024-PyWF_1-0-2.tar.bz2
$ su
Password:
# python setup.py install
# exit

Fitzcarraldo and Thev00d00

Thank you very much for your help. I tried but got the following:

glib.GError: twf.builder: required gtk+ version 2.16, current version is 2.14

I didn't know what to do and so tried the method given here and had success: http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-77 ... olved.html

Wow, I have so much to learn it's scary but also fun at the same time. I solved my problem of installing TWF but now I need to learn more about installing python programmes. I hope this will come with practise.

Thanks again.

Please don't forget to mark your threads as solved. You do this by clicking on the EDIT button in your first post and adding "[Solved]" to the end of the Subject text. I'll do it for you this time.
