A Few Issues [Solved]

Postby livinglifeback » Sun Jun 07, 2009 0:21

Okay so here's the problem i have very little experiences with Linux so i apologize if i don't explain it well enough.

i'm dual booting vista home premium and sabayon 4.1 on my toshiba a215

first and least pressing issue is that my sound doesn't work it did while it was installing it did but is shutting down while the my user profile loads.

Second and more pressing is the wireless card is temperamental at best it has worked but it doesn't work consistently. it see's the router but either fails upon connection or doesn't even try (or it appears not to the utility doesn't change to the loading image) any help?

Third when i plug or unplug my charger the screen goes black and doesn't come back

any help would be great : )

If you open a Terminal/Konsole window, log in as root user and type the commands lspci and then lsusb, you'll get a precise list of your hardware that you can paste here. For example:

Are you using Networkmanager? If you are try using wicd. search the forum on how to install it. or go to the webchat and type:
Code: Select all
?? wicd

for your sound did you go through the link wolfden provided?
If you check the wiki, use the search function and google you can find the answer to most of your questions.

Remember to mark your thread [Solved] if your issue is fixed.

Have a look at the steps in the SL Wiki article: Fresh Install - What to do. Start with the equo update --force command and then work down that list of commands. This sequence should hopefully get your HDD installation bang up to date. Then try again to install wicd. Also do an equo conf update after to make sure all the configuration files are updated. After that, you'll need to stop NetworkManager from being launched automatically when SL boots up, and configure SL to launch wicd automatically instead:

Code: Select all
# rc-update del NetworkManager default
# rc-update add wicd default

Then reboot your PC. You can read the instructions for installing wicd in the SL Wiki article: HOWTO: Replace NM with WICD.
