how to upgrade to 4.1 from 4

You will be downloading as much as a full 4.2 dvd, so you might as well just get the dvd and save yourself the pain and agony.

4.1 to 4.2 was a lot of packages, looking at 2000+ packages from a 4.0

for routine use or without net connection, is more easy to use the 4.2 default installation,and the updating it with entropy


my update from 4.0r1 to the new 4.2including the branch 5 is experimental, ands painfull for regular users!
and is not automatic or easy,
this needs manually command line setting or corrections of python, portage, entropy, drivers etc..., solutions of some problems etc...
is not a regular update.
