startx launches twm after spritz updates

Postby d_logan » Fri May 22, 2009 3:12

Brand new to Sabayon, here, but I've used Gentoo for some time. After I opened Spritz and told it to run all package updates and rebooted the machine, startx launches twm. Kde 4 was running before the update.

I looked in /etc/rc.conf but there is no XSESSION variable there like in Gentoo to control which window manager loads with startx. I'm sure I'm missing something simple.

Thanks.

hola.

en el archivo /etc/conf.d/xdm

especifica el kdm que quieres que cargue, a mi me paso igual hasta que deje asi el archivo.:

# We always try and start X on a static VT. The various DMs normally default
# to using VT7. If you wish to use the xdm init script, then you should ensure
# that the VT checked is the same VT your DM wants to use. We do this check to
# ensure that you have't accidently configured something to run on the VT
# in your /etc/inittab file so that you don't get a dead keyboard.
CHECKVT=7

# What display manager do you use ? [ xdm | gdm | kdm | kdm-3.5 | kdm-4.0 | entrance ]
# NOTE: If this is set in /etc/rc.conf, that setting will override this one.
# KDE-specific note: kdm-3.5 and kdm-4.0 are just examples. You will find all
# possible versions by looking at the directories in /usr/kde/.
DISPLAYMANAGER="kdm-4.2"

con eso deberia quedar solucionado el problema, si la version de kde que se tiene no es kde4.2 pues re reemplaza en 4.2 por el numero correcto.

saluditos.

you most put in the /etc/conf.d/xdb file your kde version.
ex.:
DISPLAYMANAGER="kdm-4.2"
if you have kde4.2
else, put the apropiate number

sorry 4 my bad englis.
