I've used other rolling releases before, Zenwalk snapshot and Debian Sidux and both required you to not have X.org running when doing a distro upgrade that upgrades X.org or hte Desktop Environment that you are using (KDE, XFCE, GNOME). You had to enter "init 3" or "init 4" and then perform the upgrade to X.
Does Entropy ever require this, or can such changes always be done in a terminal window while doing other things in an X.org environment at the same time?
I did notice that Sabayon Equo upgraded from KDE 4.2.2 to 4.2.3 from a Konsole window in KDE with no problem. Kudos for that. However, I haven't seen or done any X.org updates, and I've noticed in Spritz (although I only run equo world in a terminal) that X.org is blacklisted (or whatever the term) from updates. Does Entropy only upgrade X.org when you switch from one repository version to another, like Sabayon 4 to Sabayon 5? Would that have to be outside of X.org? If not, how does X continue to run while being replaced? On next startup?
