Installing ATI drivers pci_find_slot

Postby cjb1101 » Mon May 18, 2009 22:31

Hi

Trying to install the ati drivers so that everything works, having the following problem, everytime I try to install it, i get this error message:

ati-drivers-8.600 requires support for pci_find_slot.

I couldn't find this in xconfig for the kernel, and any reference to it on the internet says it is deprecated. So, what exactly do I do to get rid of this issue?

The ati drivers should be installed by default in the dvd , even ati control panel.

This was fixed in july last year in the ati driver.

First try to use equo / text package installer. You can also use spritz package manager in the gnome or kde desktop.

Update equo:
Code: Select all
equo update
equo install equo spritz entropy layman portage
equo conf update

Search and install latest ati driver:
Code: Select all
equo search ati-drivers
equo install ati-drivers

This is the old long way using portage / emerge and not recommended / take hours to do.
