Okay so I've used gentoo for I guess six years or so, just built a new computer and was going to try some different stuff on it. Got the 4.1 amd64 kde livedvd but so far can't get much to work on it, and I must admit that I'm not having alot of patience with it at the moment.
So here's where I'm at..
Boot from dvd, framebuffer works, instantly goes to menu. <-- How do you get to the boot prompt for kernels?
Select start 4.1 --> boots and does rc-scripts, blinking cursor when X loads, root prompt available on console 1.
Graphical Install --> same thing, blinking cursor. loads of errors in dmesg from fglrx
Text Install --> non-functional ncurses box to select lang, some output on consoles 7 and 12? no root prompt
Safe mode --> doesn't work either
So I'm looking at either trying some of the different kernels on the livedvd like text-install or a way to install from the command line would be nice then I can do it over ssh. I'm sure I could figure it out eventually after a bunch of reboots and editing xorg.conf etc etc, but like I said I'm not sure if I want to spend all that time guessing.
