sabayon advice.

Postby sb360 » Sat Apr 25, 2009 20:58

Hi,
I'm fairly new to Linux, only having dabbled with ubuntu for a couple of weeks but I have had it suggested to me that i should install sabayon.
Do you have any suggestions on what I should look at or do as a means to help me learn, or is it just as easy to learn as I do it.

Also before I do this I need to know how to remove my ubuntu partition from my computer without harming my windows installation. (I can't bring my self to sever my ties with Microsoft completely)

Thanks in advance.

i recommend reading the forums everyday. you might also want to join the Gentoo forum. I assume you are a member of the Ubuntu forums check the other OS/Gentoo threads.

most Linux articles are geared toward Ubuntu READ THEM, we do things differently than Ubuntu but most of what they do can be done the Sabayon/Gentoo way

Alltop.com the Linux page

find the Sabayon wiki and read it
find Wolfdens post on the forums for the links he provides about new user resources, sorry I still dont know how to add hyperlinks.

There is a firefox plugin called stumble upon it has a bunch of topix in the computer category, a lot of the pages might be over your head right now but after a while your understanding will grow

Read the wiki which also has a FAQ. I know it's been said but, so much info in there to help you learn and well organized and easy to read.
If you check the wiki, use the search function and google you can find the answer to most of your questions.

Remember to mark your thread [Solved] if your issue is fixed.

Ok thanks for the advice guys, I am definitely going to be doing a lot of reading.

One more question though : How user friendly is the installer, as I am hoping to use my current partition and just install over ubuntu, Is this a tricky thing to do with the installer or is this a bit of a pain. ?
