md5sum is always the first thing to troubleshoot!
That is why it is stressed to always download and check you md5sum immediately before burn. You can save on media and headaches. It's always the first question asked, is the md5sum correct? One has to know this before proceeding as it is useless to try and fix something from a bad md5sum.
