I hardly get any sound on Sabayon 2.0.1 at all. This is with everything. System: Intel Core2duo. 6gig ram. I also run another Linux OS on another drive. No such problem. Thanks.

Are you sure that it is the right version?
you can get it typing from a command line:
Code: Select all
cat /etc/sabayon-release

you could try to type in a console as root 'alsaconf' and then use your favourite mixer to adjust it.
So type:
Code: Select all
su

and give your root password, you won't see any response to your keys, in order to keep your root pass secret.
then type:
Code: Select all
alsaconf

and follow the instructions. Now open up a mixer (such as kmix) and adjust your sound card parameters,
if you don't have anything else, try alsamixer typing in a console:
Code: Select all
alsamixer

Yes, I run the right version. Thanx for your advice. I had to set the sound right up into the red, but everything seems to work now. :D

I mean that the 2.0.1 is your Sabayon version.
However often a low volume on some of the mixer parameters leads to a low sound volume.
For example I got a low volume on my laptop because I have a master volume which controls the overall audio volume,
but a PCM and Front volume also that influences it.

So I keep PCM and Front to the maximum, in order to have always the highest volume possible.
Try to play with the mixer, you will find out interesting results :)
