Decent movie converter

I 've been trying to get DeeVeeDee to work in Sabayon 4 ,but I don't know how to get it to open.I've got it downloaded ,but no idea how to install tar.ball any help out there? morayman..........

As always use the package manager.

As root

Thanks Thev ,but I'm going to need more hand holding than that.I still can;t get it installed.I've got a folder on my desktop that says:"DeVeDe-3.12c" and the "DeVeDe-3.12c.tar.gz" but I don't know what to do or where to doit!I guess I need real hand -holding! Morayman.....

The point that you're probably missing is that you don't do anything with the file you downloaded (except, perhaps, delete it) but you install DeVeDe using the Sabayon Package Manager. For this you can use Spritz but the fastest way is to use a terminal (how you find that depends on whether you're using Gnome or KDE - or one of the other GUIs - in KDE you'll find it in "System" and it's called Konsole).
Once you've opened it type in "su" (without the quote marks) and press enter. Then enter your root password and press enter again.
Then type in "equo update" (again without the quote marks) and press enter.
When it has finished updating, type in "equo install entropy" (without the quotes) and press enter.
When that has finished, type in "equo install devede" (without the quotes) and press enter.
When that has finished you should have DeVeDe installed.

Well that worked! I have DeVeDe now,and I understand a lot more about my OS. Thanks for your patience with me ,I'm still learning as much as I can and this help's a bunch.morayman.......
