Joost Ruis (joost_op) and Ian Whyman (Thev00d00) are proud to announce the availability of the Naendo community repository! Its allows us to offer latest the latest and greatest programs, KDE 4.2 RC, E17, LXDE and whatever bleeding stuff we get our hands on and compiled.
Its designed to allow users to test the latest stuff that could not be included in the main portage/sabayon tree for whatever reason. Most if not all of the packages contained within the Naendo repo are testing/SVN/GIT/Alpha/Beta builds, no official support is given, using this stuff is done at your own risk!

Whats a community repository?
Community Repositories are user-managed packages repositories, users can recompile packages with different settings, add their own ones and make all available to other people. Repository publishers are responsible of how a package is compiled and what is compiled.

Whats in it?
KDE 4.2, E17 SVN, LXDE SVN, Songbird, Firefox 3.1.... To much to list, see http://entropy.hyperfish.org/standard/naendo/packages

Do you provide x86 and AMD64 packages?
YES! This repo is both x86 and amd64 allowing you to experience the newest software on both versions of sabayon! w00t

How do I use it?
Add these lines to your /etc/entropy/repositories.conf:
Code: Select all
repository|naendo|Naendo Community Repo|http://entropy.hyperfish.org|http://entropy.hyperfish.org#bz2#2323,2424
repository|naendo||http://entropy.v00d00.net|
repository|naendo||http://entropy4.hyperfish.org|
repository|naendo||http://entropy3.hyperfish.org|
repository|naendo||http://entropy.hyperfish.org|

What Sabayon Version do you need?
Any on the 4.0 branch, including: 4.0, 4.0-r1 and 4.0-LiteMCE

Help! <appname> doesnt work!
Ow no! no support is given, but please report it to joost or Thev00d00 and they will TRY and look into the bug for you, no guarantees, if its broken report it, but fixing it would be helpful!

Where is the Updates RSS? I love my software bleeding!
amd64: http://entropy.hyperfish.org/standard/n ... pdates.rss
x86: http://entropy.hyperfish.org/standard/n ... pdates.rss

What does Naendo mean?
Nothing! sounds good however!

Can I request packages?
If you want to, just give us an ebuild and we will see what we can do :D just reply or email at joost.ruis@sabayonlinux.org AND ian.whyman@sabayonlinux.org

NOTE
ONLY ENTROPY VERSIONS >=0.5.0 ARE SUPPORTED

Sounds awesome guys! I'll definitely be checking that out (although I guess I could just wait another week for KDE4.2 official release :P). I've been meaning to give E17 a whirl at some point. I think this Repository is gonna be heavily used.

In my new installed Sabayon, 4;0r1, updated to kernel 2.6.28, the packages are not found in the Naendo repo.
even after command equo database backup

see, for example, in order to install KDE 4-2:
Code: Select all

and for KDE 4.2:
Code: Select all

also for LXDE, for E17 etc....

when i tried the commands for SVN into dot, as described, my Bash remained into dot without reply to python equo.py command:
Code: Select all
localhost entropysvn # python equo.py install @kde-4.2
python: can't open file 'equo.py': [Errno 2] No such file or directory
localhost entropysvn # svn co http://svn.sabayonlinux.org/projects/entropy/trunk/ .  << inc the dot

You don't have a clue about what you are doing, right?!
It takes a bit more insight then copy and paste things into a terminal.

I followed the guide, I get:
Code: Select all
localhost client # python equo.py install @kde-4.2
>> No packages found.
>>  @@ Caching complete.

However, Spritz in the "Sets" section sees the packages...
