vmware-tools no se ejecuta

Hola,

He instalado vmWare Workstation y he creado una máquina virtual con WinXP.
Todo sin problemas.
Ahora, una duda. Quiero instalar las VMware Tools y no hay manera.
Le doy a VM->Install VMware Tools y después del mensaje de confirmación no hace nada de nada, he llegado a esperar más de dos horas. Cancelo y vuelvo a intentarlo y nada.
Si abro una ventana de terminal y ejecuto
emerge vmware-workstation-tools me dice:

y no sé qué hacer....
Estoy cansada de leer howto's y no se qué más tengo que hacer.
No me he descargado las vmware-tools-5.5.4xxxxxxx.tar (no recuerdo el fichero) porque pensé que el emerge ya las descargaba... ¿es así?
