restoring database failure !! "--replay" missing

Postby videOMoviEShine » Fri Mar 08, 2013 19:00

Hi,

Yesterday i had to reinstall my system, because of broken fgrlx install resulting in a unbootable System. So, as i always do, i had made a repo backup before, using "equo rescue backup". To avoid bandwich traffic i use a separated "/var" partition, same as "/home" separated.

My actual problem:
This is not working anymore as described here:
http://forum.sabayon.org/viewtopic.php? ... se#p154664

Equo is telling me:
equo upgrade: error: unrecognized arguments: --replay

On the day before i tried with --empty ... but this is resulting in a reinstall of everything !! about 1800 packages

Thanks for help !!
Ciao

--reply seems to be removed
restore your db and without update it :

Code: Select all
# equo upgrade   --empty --bdeps

see
Code: Select all
# equo upgrade --help

Thanks for quick response

Code: Select all
equo upgrade --empty --bdeps -v -p

= tells me 1853 packages to reinstall. So no other way to avoid this ??

i remember, maybe i am wrong (?) that this "--replay" command was reinstalling only those packages, which changed.

So there is my suggestion to find a clever way to avoid this !! Ixnay maybe can do it (?)

Okay, you mean request on Bugzilla. Never used that before. Anyway the "monster upgrade" is running now, i mark this as solved (?) although it is not really true.

Thanks a lot and wish you a nice weekend :-)

Suggestion to developers and 1. Bugzilla use in my life:
https://bugs.sabayon.org/show_bug.cgi?id=4057

I love Sabayon Linux because it is the "best Linux Ferrari" in my eyes :D ... Ciao

Hi,

sorry i have to revert ... my yesterday here marked as [Solved] is not true. I did as described the "monster upgrade" about 3 hours !! = resulting in a unbootable System !! it is impossible to read all informations when about 1800 packages get installed !!

The described "upgrade" was made on a fresh and working install of a Daily KDE 64Bit Edition .iso from 06.03.2013 !!

I was using all separated as described below:
+ "/boot" partition unencrypted
+ "/var" partition luks encrypted
+ "/home" partition luks encrypted
+ "/" root partition unencrypted
+ "swap" luks encrypted

The problem after rebooting: there was no way to open the luks encrypted partitions except swap. Unable to access home giving back ./home ... same with my /var partition. I did 2 Times these "monster upgrade" = the same effect !! Same settings !!

Install Media was checked before, i have only one machine so any information like logfiles i can only find on my home and /var partition ... as described !!

This repo backup was working perfect on KDE 4.10 limbo Repo !! ... on my fresh installings i was not using limbo repo only default weekly !!

Because i am Newbie with Bugs ... is it a Bug ?? if it is ... then i need a help where to collect which information !! this would be helpful in case i make my first "Bugreport" without blaming myself ... Anyway, my Sabayon runs fine now, so there is no serious problem i have actual to solve. But i would like to learn how to make a "perfect" Bug Report !!

Please excuse me, that i several times edited this posting in this box ... good > better > a bit more better > ... > ...

Ciao :-)
