Does anybody else have the problem that kernel updates always corrupt their grub.conf? I just wish grub.conf would be left alone so I can update it myself. I even changed permissions to make it read-only. Maybe will try using an ACL to limit things further if need be. Every kernel update from entropy reorders my grub entries and creates an entry for the new kernel that points to invalid partitions. This last one even put Windows as the default boot. Luckily I wasn't rebooting remotely. I have several HDs in this system and entropy always assumes my boot partition is hd2,0 when it's truly hd0,0.
I'd like to throw my vote to having updates either not touch grub.conf or only append to the end of it so top (default) options would be untouched.
Sorry if this has been posted already. I can't find it anywhere.
