mail-mta/courier and tricks to fix old dependencies [Solved]

Postby anomaly65 » Sun May 13, 2012 20:53

Hi all,

mail-mta/courier was built last august against pre 1.x version of openssl. "ugh" no real easy fix if you like TLS connections to your mailserver, however, even manually compiling (or emerging via portage) the new package wasn't much help.

Even forcibly installing the older 0.98 openssl side by side wasn't a fix (nor a good idea!)
I solved the problem like so

Code: Select all
root# equo repo enable sabayon-limbo
root# equo update --force
root# equo install mail-mta/courier
root# equo disable sabayon-limbo

worked like a charm. Have to admit, for a binary package style manager, there are some flexible tricks available to solve issues like the above! Nice work devs!!!

Good luck!
