Crashes after updates

Postby malcavus » Tue Mar 20, 2012 1:47

Good night.

After the last updates, when I connect the laptop for the first time, sometimes the system hangs or the volume icon does not appear. To try to restart or quit the session, it takes a good time to exit. After this, to reset the system, it becomes normal. I am using Sabayon 8 KDE.

Editing: Now each reboot of the system, the icon of sound and some services such as the indexing of files do not work more. I saw also that in system configurations to enter in startup and shutdown, the following message appears: "Some archives of GRUB configuration are missing or are invalid. Please, select an action: 1) Recover GRUB from a previous installation; 2) manually browse to locate the setup files of GRUB". Whether you choose the two options, choose the hd for installation, clicking OK the system does not return anything.

Thank you.

Hello. I have the same problem with the kmix volume icon not appearing occasionally, it appeared in kde 4.8.0 & still have it in 4.8.1, logging out & back in normally solves it. I have nepomuk disabled but I just noticed the nepomuk search module was still loading at startup (in startup & shutdown) so I disabled it & rebooted. No problem now with kmix icon & kde loads a little faster. I don't have the grub error, maybe repairing grub from the install disc will work?

Hi folks,

I've also got this problem and starting dolphin for example gives me this error:

Code: Select all
KSystemTimeZones: ktimezoned initialize() D-Bus call failed: "Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken."

And when I try to open systemsettings -> Startup and Shutdown -> Service Manager it takes some time and I get an error message
Code: Select all
no contact to KDED
.
Here a similar problem is posted:
