Removing old kernels [Solved]

Postby cl00t » Sun Feb 12, 2012 10:42

Hello,

Sorry for all the questions these last days but I like to be sure I am doing things the correct way.
I know to use kernel-switcher to install kernels which I have done successfully, but how to remove the old ones, I cannot see a faq for this?

should I do equo remove [kernel] --ask

Doing this pulls in a few kernel specific drivers for removal, I assume it is ok to allow these to be removed?

Can someone point me to a faq or wiki please.

Thank you.

Hi,
you can get a listing of the installed kernels using equo query:
Code: Select all
equo query installed linux-sabayon

You will notice something like:
Code: Select all
>>         Slot:          <version>

in each entry, to remove that kernel run:
Code: Select all
equo remove linux-sabayon:<version>

dependencies will be handled by entropy.

For example, to remove the 3.1 kernel, run:
(as root)
Code: Select all
equo remove linux-sabayon:3.1
