Spritz cleanup error?

Postby frisil » Wed Dec 31, 2008 15:51

I just came to Sabayon4 (having used debian for years) so I'm pretty new to it. When I install a package with Spritz Package manager it always says something like "error - cannot work on closed database" at the bottom of the window when cleaning up, but everything seems to work.

Can I safely ignore this or is it bad? If so, what do I do about it?

I had this issue a couple of weeks ago and also right after seeing your post but, in both cases, i couldn't reproduce it a second time...
Can you reproduce the error again?
The error said something about "populate packages" also? If so, i think is just spritz can't show packages in the packages list (updates, avaliabe, installed) and after clicking on another section all will be fine.

Should be fixed in the current development release. DHalens, can you see if you still have that issue?

Yep I just got this as well with a clean install of sabayon4. Spritz ver. 0.24.6

Code: Select all
(1/3) Removing: app-cdr/lacie-lightscribe-labeler-1.0.6
 Ebuild: pkg_prerm()
 Ebuild: pkg_postrm()
Removing data: app-cdr/lacie-lightscribe-labeler-1.0.6
Removing from Entropy: app-cdr/lacie-lightscribe-labeler-1.0.6
(2/3) Removing: app-cdr/lightscribe-simplelabeler-1.4.128.1
 Ebuild: pkg_prerm()
 Ebuild: pkg_postrm()
Removing data: app-cdr/lightscribe-simplelabeler-1.4.128.1
Removing from Entropy: app-cdr/lightscribe-simplelabeler-1.4.128.1
(3/3) Removing: app-cdr/lightscribe-1.4.136.1
 Ebuild: pkg_prerm()
 Ebuild: pkg_postrm()
Removing data: app-cdr/lightscribe-1.4.136.1
Removing from Entropy: app-cdr/lightscribe-1.4.136.1
Regenerating /etc/ld.so.cache

and then at the bottom it says:

Code: Select all
Error during list population: Cannot operate on a closed database., Retrying in 1 second.
If you check the wiki, use the search function and google you can find the answer to most of your questions.

The issue is being addressed already, the very latest SVN revision should be immune.
