And you never doubted like: geez maybe i did something wrong?

No actually - unless 'equo --verbose world' comes under your definition of 'wrong'.
Further more, reporting stuff without enough info/logs doesn't help at all. A "Gentoo user" should know that.

HA! The forum would cripple under the weight of a post that large  I didn't come for support - I've fixed it myself by abandoning entropy and rebuilding everything via portage. I was offering a simple warning that curious users should resist the temptation to switch to the 4.0 branch until it's ready.

If you're looking for something to fix from all this, then I seriously recommend you have a closer look at the entropy stability and entropy <==> portage syncing, because I had literally hundres of packages installed on my system ( with broken dependancies that revdep-rebuild was finding ) that neither entropy nor portage claimed to know anything about ( hence my need to query a more stable system for packages that owned files ).

Have you completely missed the warning about mixing the use of these two programs because it leads to serious problems. Branch four will be ready when its ready and it is not currently ready. However it is fun fun to muck around with a little bit.

Well firstly, no, I didn't miss that warning. It was only after everything ended up broken via an entropy update that I began using portage on this system. I suppose you could argue that this might have made things worse, but it actually largely fixed things ( java stuff is still horribly broken, but I have X and gnome running again ).

And secondly, that warning is a bid of a cop-out anyway. I haven't delved into the workings of entropy yet, but my assumption is that it would at the least tell portage about what it's doing. I think this is a fair assumption to be making, and also not particularly hard to implement.

I actually offered to help out with this kind of thing - to start with via email, and was then told to go to the dev IRC channel. So I did, and got kicked out pretty much immediately, so I haven't bothered trying again. Anyway, I can't be criticised for not trying to improve things that I found broken.

The dev channel is locked so you never even got in.

The bugzilla and forum are for users to use. You did the right thing posting on the forum. Although it's irrelevant till it's officially announced for public consumption.
