Notification applet seems to be getting worse

I've noticed that the notification applet appears to be behaving in a very strange way. I think it's been happening over the last 3 Entropy updates. The symptoms are bizarre.
First of all there is a problem that's always been there - a constant notification that it cannot connect and I am probably not connected to the world (when I knw very well that I am)
Secondly, it starts going through the update process and appears to freeze. I have to move the mouse backwards and forward over the icon and with each movement there is an increase of 1 or 2 % - the whole process takes several minutes when it used to be very quick and the notification message showed what was happening.
Thirdly, if I don't pick up on the frozen updating and turn off my PC, the system takes longer than usual to shutdown and, when this happened last, can lock Entropy.
And, finally, it has taken to just disappearing from the task bar.
Running 3.5 x86-64 (fully updated except still running kernel 2.6.25-sabayon-r1) Entropy 0.23.5

Maybe you noticed that the repo was down for a moment today, also probably the slowness was cause there slipped in a bug in 0.23.4 which made the update to 0.23.5 ran slow, all should be fixed with 0.23.5

I'm noticing similar behaviour. It seems like the entropy-applet is froze until you do some mouse-overs.

We were having a whole lot of strangeness with both the entropy client and the Sabayon server there for a few days.

It should be straightened out, so post back if anybody is still seeing problems.

The problem continued until 0.23.8 but now it seems OK.

Yes, I confirm, Notification Applet freezes and proceeds only if mouse continues hovering it!!!

i'm not seeing any freezes or other serious problems.

but the thing is:
the applet is showing 596 available updates, but when i open spritz it shows that my system is up to date.
which one do i believe?

sjeses, you should check on spritz better, I'm sure those updates have to be done probably...
What you also could do is open a terminal, become root, and then run:

 equo update

after that you can run:

Code: Select all

equo world --ask

to see how much updates there are, if there is nothing, you are good, else run em.
after that you should run:

Code: Select all

equo conf update

to update all your config files, probably a -5 is good, but be aware of config files that are system related!
