OK, I held out as long as I could before finally upgrading my 3.4 to 3.5 and now there are quite a few packages that need to be updated after the install. In addition there are several tweaks and additional things to do to tune out this install and make it personalized as was my 3.4 Install.
I decided to clean out the 3.4 install completely by selectin the install instead of upgrade after I burned the DVD. I figured I would run into less issues that way. I had partitioned my home directory seperate from the rest of my system just for such situations. That way I don't actually lose anything. I selected format for all my other partitions so I basically have a fresh install.
I am writing this from my second install like this now because the first one would no longer boot after trying the equo install && equo world. I didn't lose anything by trying it and I kind of thought I would have trouble since I was unfamiliar with equo/spritz although I did read the how-to for that section.
What I am hoping this post will result in is info on what to leave out of the list of packages to update and what order to update those that can be updated in addition to other information about what other people have done after the install to get their Sabayon installation to look cool or perform better etc. How to keep equo and portage both working together. Perhaps this will be a springboard for content that will eventually replace the how-to section of the sabayon wiki that is still geared toward the 3.4 installation.
Lets start it out with recommendations on the package updates, the order etc. Perhaps someone will simply tell me that equo update && equo world should have worked fine and I have another issue as far as that goes, but let's not stop there. We all installed the sabayon distor because we believed it was the best for us. Let's discuss what we did to it to make it better than it is right off the DVD.
