spritz 0.5.24.1 - xorg-server-1.7.2

I saw a number of updates available today so I installed them. When spritz got to the xorg-server install it noted ok and *boom* my desktop disappeared and I was greeted with a black screen with a blinking line in the upper left corner of the screen. After spending time getting things just the way I want them, well, this is VERY disturbing. The install is dead. No xorg and It seems portage is also broken.

Can you get to a command prompt? If so, you probably need to update your config files (carefully, of course).
