Req: Kernel Sources on the DVD

Postby christophocles » Fri Apr 11, 2008 6:43

I noticed there is a VMWare image on the livedvd. Not many of us will need that, and those who do can download it off the web. It doesn't need to be on the DVD.

How about including kernel sources on the dvd instead? That might actually be useful for some of us. On the last release there was no included ethernet driver for my NIC and I was unable to get it working because I couldn't compile the driver. Thankfully, the ATL2 driver is included in loop2, but I'm sure many of us are still using uncommon hardware and require kernel sources.

WOOOW! Sabayon 3.5 Loop 2 is great, and it's faster than 3.4.... When will it be released?

Where can i see a roadmap? I'm looking forward to 3.5 final.
When its final there will be mini editions too i suppose? And can the mini's contain exact the same startmenu like the regular flavour? Thats the only thing I missed in the mini of 3.4.
I'm going to reinstall anyways cause i messed it up pretty bad.

Any future plans for including an LIRC setup wizard (gui frontend),not to be confused with client frontends such as IRKICK. I am aware of compiling LIRC, it's just if your setting up a new machine it would be nice for a quick and simple setup out of the box, at least for the most common LIRC devices.

Eiter way, I still am digging this distro. I've been telling my peeps and bragging about it.

One other question. I haven't had time yet but wanted to know if in this Beta release has resolved the common Compiz Fusion & acceleration manager issues as in the past. (i.e losing desktop effects after enabling aiglx...)
