Audion in movies keeps cutting out [Solved]

Postby Glenn » Mon Jul 30, 2007 16:26

Noob here (if you cant already tell) So be easy on me.

I have tried many distros and always have the same thing Problem

Anytime I attempt to watch a movie (either downloaded or bought) the audio will cut out.. Sometimes after a while it comes back.. But most often Not..

Sabayon 3.3
I am using KDE also..

When I reset the soundcard with alsaconfig, the sound will work for a few Minutes..

Any Ideas? Any info needed just tell me how to supply it.

Thanks

ok, what video-card and sound card do you have? and is it 32bit or 64bit? (just a little more about your computer specs)
usually, re-emrging the media player (VLC, mPlayer, xine, or gstreamer) can help, but appearently it is a hardware problem since it didn't work in other distros.
also, when you play these videos, is beryl, or compiz on or not?

I think I have found what was causing the Audio to cut out of the movies yet the video continues..

For some reason ktorrent utilizes arts. When I turn off ktorrent, Problems with the audio goes way down..

Also I was doing some fooling around and found out the audio cache was set at 2000 bytes.. So I upped it to 4000.. I dont know if it means anything.. but it seems to be working...
