Help with XsistenCe

Postby JudasImok » Tue Jul 03, 2007 10:13

Hello, I am fairly new to Sabayon and Linux in general. I have downloaded the 3.4 Loop 3 DVD and am using it as Live-CD for now. I am trying to get Xsistence to work as detailed in the Wiki. However I must be doing some thing wrong.
Can someone help?

* Just have a previously formatted USB external disk (like a flash pen).
* A blank file called "xsistence-mode" on the root of the USB storage above.
* Some free space on it, at least 15 Mb.

Those things I have done...
* Add "xsistence" boot option to enable it.

How do I do this?
o If the System detects a previously created image file, it will use that.
o If the System does not detect an XsistenCe image, it will be created.
o You can specify the size (MB) of it, by adding: "xsistence_mb=xxx"

Where do I type this in? As I said I am still fairly new, but I learn quickly.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Does anyone know how to use this feature? I would love to learn how to use it. I really enjoy the LiveDVD capability and I am sure there must be someone who has used XsistenCe before.

Please help a new Linux user.

Thank you again in advance

As I said, I am fairly new to Linux and Sabayon. I really love the LiveDVD feature and reading the Website, there is a feature called Xsistence. Eventually I will install Sabayon on a computer, but in the meantime I am only able to use the Lived-DVD with a 4Gig USB drive. Now my assumption is that someone here whether a developer or someone would know how to use this feature incorporated in the distibution. I am only trying to learn all I can and when I check Google, there is limited info on how to use it. So yes, I am looking elsewhere while seeking answers here.

Please help me.

I'm also interested to know better this feature.
Could the blank file be located in some other places?
The C:\ partition of a windowz machine, for example?
Other partitions as well?
Ntfs format of the USB pen is a problem?
