aMSN 0.97rc1

Postby CCR » Thu Jun 14, 2007 13:58

Is there any overlay that has the ebuild for aMSN 0,97rc1 ?? I found that this new version is much better than 0.96 included on sabayon overlay.
Have compiled it from source tarball myself...but some of my friends also would like to have the newest version.

There's a least a bug opened on this matter:
http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=179467

References:
http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Installing ... ty_Ebuilds
'man patch' (as I see you'll need to apply patch to the attached ebuild itself to correct the path or something like that)
Or the web version:

Thanx for the answer.. :) seems like it will be easier for me to help my friends installing aMSN 0.97 by downloading the tarball and compiling it on each computer, than to use that ebuild.
However i got no error messages or faults when i installed from source on my Sabayon 3.4 loop2.
Well lets hope they solve whatever bug there is and include the new version in packages, cuz it really is much better than previous versions.

Perhaps i also wrote my question wrong... i am quite new at using Linux so u'll have to excuse me if i sometimes write something wrong :P However i am thankful for any help and guidance i can get.

What i meant to ask was if the aMSN 0.97rc1 is included in any overlay... so i could add that overlay and make that aMSN show up in portage and kuroo or portato :D...
That would be the easiest way for me to help my friends who i have talked into using Sabayon, to install 0.97 on their computers too :P

Thankful for any more hints..

you do not need to do an emerge --sync ... but have you looked whether the package is in there? ... I posted the above, because I misunderstood you ^^ --- thought you wanted to add the ebuild to an overlay ... sorry

Hehehehe okey... No problem. I wanted to add the sunrise overlay anyway so i can install portato :D
No i can surely say that my Linux skills are far below making and adding an ebuild....hehehe But if anyone feels like adding aMSN 0.97rc1 to the Sunrise overlay please feel free to do so :D

Read instructions about searching in all overlays in the end of this section. I hope they're pretty straightforward (I've written them some months ago ;)).
