openssh (specifically sftp) with libedit [Solved]

Hi,

brief presentation (since this is my first post in this forum)
I am new to sabayon (but have used Gentoo 4 or 5 yrs ago and Ubuntu recently.... moved away from Ubuntu for a number of reasons.... )

My problem/question is:

Is it possible to have sftp with tab-completion, history and readline as I am used to (without having to resort to a mixed entropy/portage environment, setting up specific USE flags for the sftp client and emerging it using portage ..... this should solve my problem, I think.... but would prefer a less aggressive solution, if possible) ?

I've searched through the forum and wiki but could not find anything on this topic (maybe I did not search hard enough...).

I tried posting this question in the newby area but had little success....

I will try to rephrase the question:

Current openssh programs are compiled without libedit (the library that once was called libreadline + libhistory, if I am not wrong). This is quite annoying for sftp. The question is: is there an openssh binary package for sabayon that includes libedit somewhere ? If there is no such package available, is my only option that of using a mixed entropy/portage envionment and "emerging" openssh after setting appropriate USE flags ?

Well... ok, since no one answered I used emerge adding the libedit USE flag in 00-sabayon.package.use...

everything seems to work fine at the moment (and sftp is definetly much more usable.... wonder why the libedit flag is not the default...)

you should use bugzilla (link on the top of this page) to request the USE flag change to the devs.

I do believe multiple posts on the same topic/issue should be created, but, please note the date and times of the topics.... I believe that after one week of absolutely no answer, and, after that, one month of no answer (I would have preferred even a simple "your question is idiot" answer, to none at all) one has the right to repost the same topic....

You may believe what you want, but rules are rules. It is not a matter of giving or removing a "right", it is a matter of keeping the forums easily accessible and sorted. Forums are not only intended for the users who are experiencing the problems, but also for users that look for a solution to a specific problem that has already been solved, thus informations must be as organized as possible. Two topics on the exact same issue split the informations away and make it less easy to find.

I also don't think that there are stupid questions, it is much more likely that nobody that known the answer noticed your thread, which happens frequently.
