Images not being displayed in web browser [Solved]

My Sabayon is current. Only yesterday there were some updates which were sent out and I updated them all using "equo upgrade" and that updated my Firefox to version 18. But it doesnt display any images, say if I go to http://images.google.com and search for ipad (or any other images), all I get is grey boxes. I thought this is specific to firefox and did everything as mentioned here but nothing helped.

I then installed chromium browser to check if the issue exists...and even there the same problem...what could be the issue? and how to resolve it?

Any help on this will be highly appreciated.

Do you have media-libs/jpeg-8d installed? If so uninstall

equo remove media-libs/jpeg-8d --nodeps

than

equo install media-libs/libjpeg-turbo

otherwise check the log files

I see an earlier version (media-libs/jpeg-6b-r9) installed too, do you want me to remove that? Or is this something else.

Since the update on firefox-18.0 (and also gnome 3.6) the browser don't show any jpg pictures. Also video previews (e.g. youtube) not shown. I think its a dependecy problem because chromium don't show this pictures too.

Thanks a lot dunsurfin! That was it. After removing jpeg-8d and reinstalling libjpeg-turbo everything works like a charme .
