Qmmp Sys Tray Icon Missing?

I found a skin I like in qmmp so I've decide to use it for audio playback, it's neat and compact. I need to have a minimise to sys tray icon option though, which, reading around, is supposed to be provided by the Status Icon plugin. The qmmp plugin pack doesn't seem to provide this.

All I've found so far is an old xmms plugin called xmms-status-plugin-1.0; is this it? If so, where do you extract it to?

I also seem to have found a post by Joost relating to a nice animated icon here which sounds really nice.

How do I get all this good stuff installed and where is it, is the question? Thanks.
