Install software (gtkpod) from source code? [Solved]

I am having a lot of trouble with gtkpod. It always crashes when I try to add a directory with m4a files, and the m4a plugin is enabled:

*** buffer overflow detected ***: gtkpod - terminated
gtkpod: buffer overflow attack in function <unknown> - terminated

After much research, I think I have discovered that this is a bug in gtkpod that can be resolved by installing the very latest version from the git source. However, as a Sabayon newbie, I don't know where to start. If there is Sabayon (or Gentoo) documentation for doing such a thing, could someone point me to it?

Or, if anyone has a better solution for my problem, I would appreciate that, too.

Latest status - A gtkpod developer is helping me with the problem. It turns out that hundreds of my m4a files can be added to the library, but certain ones make it crash. When it crashes, nothing gets added in the end.

The files that make it crash can play just fine with vlc, so it is just something about them that crashes gtkpod. I have sent the developer some samples and he says he is examining them bit by bit.

I am marking this thred as solved, because I don't think I'm going to try to build it from source code.
