Kaffeine

Postby erasmus » Fri Jun 29, 2012 15:14

Hello

I have just installed Sabayon 9 KDE and also Kaffeine. I have put the firmware (dvb-ttpci-01.fw) for my satellite card TechnoTrend into /lib/firmware/. Playing audio from the computer is OK, playing music-CD is OK, playing DVE is OK, as long as they are not protected. Playing Satellite TV is not possible, I get a message «no device found».

Just to make everything clear: This same card plays under Mint Lisa 12, Fedora and XP without any problems - well there is one, but I may attach later (not knowing a descrambling card for Swiss-TV).

Do I have to reinstall some additional codecs? If yes, can someone please direct me there?
Thanks in advance.

Hello

It becomes really important. Before this issue is resolved, I can not switch to Sabayon as working horse.

When I tried Fedora, "mtron" gave me a help for installing additional files. Please see here, the second contribution. The rest of the thread is not so interesting, as I do not want to make Fedora my bread and butter OS. I am sure, for Sabayon exist such drivers too, but where and how to install them?

I don't have your hardware, so I have no idea. Are you using 32-bit Linux or 64-bit Linux? If you have the latter, perhaps you need to put the file dvb-ttpci-01.fw in the directory /lib64/firmware/ (and, maybe, also create a symlink to it in /lib/firmware/, although I didn't have to do that in the case of my DVB-T USB stick: Re: Request for advice on making a Media Centre).
