Youtube streaming video not working

Greetings-

I'm newish to Sabayon converted from Ubuntu, and running into a bit of an issue. Youtube videos will play breifly then freeze. If I fast forward they'll play for another few seconds and freeze again. Most of my linux/unix work has been command line/server, so this GUI stuff is a little foreign from a troubleshooting perspective to me. I can say it is NOT network as I can visibly see the whole video get loaded, but it won't play. I've tried in Chrome and Firefox. Any thoughts?

Ooops. Should have said Sabayon 9 with Gnome 3. IBM thinkpad R400.

You can try disabling hardware acceleration by right clicking on a flash player and see if that helps.

I did try that in firefox to no avail. And I don't think Chromium uses that....but I could be wrong.

I'm assuming this is from a Sabayon 9 install, but let's go ahead and make sure you have the latest and "greatest" flash player available.

Even if you happen to already have the latest, sometimes something goes screwy and a reinstall fixes things up. This will do that for you.

At the very least, we're eliminating causes.

Gave that a try, didn't help. Still get about 7 seconds of video then it stops. Any other thoughts? I'm low on ideas.
