I just heard about it today & quickly got interested since my connection right now (back in my country) is super slow & ssh keeps on lagging...also a lot of times I forget to quit out of my shell when suspending my laptop so things get messed up & I need to relog in all the time which is annoying.
Mosh's features sound great...and I've installed it right from portage...but since I'm still new to this I have no idea how to get it running on my ssh shell over a remote host. Will it act on top of ssh protocol or what I have no idea...also will a remote mosh-server need to be set up on the remote host?
Please clarify my misunderstanding if you are familiar with mosh.
Thanks a lot!
Edit:
This is what I get when trying to connect on the ssh port on my shell, note the username & hostname have been changed for privacy reasons.
- Code: Select all
$ mosh chasha@examplehost.net
bash: mosh-server: command not found
Connection to examplehost.net closed.
/usr/bin/mosh: Did not find mosh server startup message.
Edit2:
Well...the issue was that I was trying to run a gentoo binary on a freebsd system Lol...total psycho. Anyway the guys at #mosh helped me figure it out. Sorry for creating an irrelevant thread.
