Backup to usb drive problem

Postby cl00t » Wed Mar 28, 2012 12:55

Hello,

Using corecdx + kde, 64bit, all updated.

I backup my home dir daily using luckybackup to an encrypted usb disk which is unmounted & disconnected between backups. The backup report always indicates success.

I noticed today that Sunday, Monday & yesterdays backups all resulted in the changed / new files being copied over to the backup drive, but with zero bytes.
The files were gnucash files & logs, files created in kwrite, images from my phone transfered on dropbox. Luckily I can re-create the data, but what happened?

I re-created the data & ran the backup again & it copied all the files ok.

I cannot understand as I always unmount the disk between backups (properly) & it seems to mount ok & i can browse it.

(changed the subject as this doesn't just happen with Lucky backup)

This is still happening, this time with Backintime using the kde front end. Note that I installed this via source & run it from ~/bin/backintime as the version in entropy is compiled with the gnome front end.

Backing up to the same usb disk as before. some files are copied correctly, most are copied but with zero bytes. Backintime reports that the backup was successful. This is happening with jpgs, txt files, gnucash files, some copied ok, others not.

Backing up to SpiderOak & via ftp to my nas is fine.
