Macro recorder

Postby mpmills » Tue Mar 13, 2012 4:04

Probably a question I overlooked but Im looking for a multi-function macro recorder. I found Xmacro but its no longer being supported? I found xnee, but the GNU (gnee) isnt in the supported list. Im not yet at the understanding lever for command lines etc, outside of updating the system and installing supported packages, so anyone have any suggestions?

Check out AutoKey (doesn't record, but can be configured to play macros) and Easystroke (records and plays), which may satisfy your needs. You can use the SL Forums 'Search' facility with keywords "AutoKey" and "Easystroke" to throw up a few recent threads about them.

Interesting software but I am looking for the lines of repetitive actions such as to record, replay and continue user actions. I ran across Xgee but no GUI. I installed xnee, currently cnee is on my pc, I will have to look deeper on what its actually capable of, I last had a program that could read color codes and execute said parameters etc. more homework I guess.

Well, you could try xnee. Version 3.11 is in the Entropy weekly repository, and version 3.12 is in Portage.

http://itupw056.itu.chalmers.se/project-xnee//

Xnee consists of a library, two applications and a Gnome panel applet

cnee (cnee's not an event emulator) - Command line program
gnee (gnee's not an emulator either) - Graphical User Interface (GUI) program
pnee (pnee's not even emulating) - Gnome Panel Applet
libxnee (libxnee is basically xnee) - Library used by cnee, pnee and gnee

Never tried it myself, as AutoKey and Easystroke run all the macros I need.
