emerge glibc

Hi-

So, I updated python and ran python-updater, which wants to emerge glibc-2.7-r1. My question is, how long might I expect this compile to take? I left it running for a good 5 hours and it still isn't finished. Stuff goes by too fast for me to see what's really going on, but does anyone know how long this should take? Or maybe a reference, like "longer than gtk+ but shorter than kdelibs" or something like that? I've got a reasonably fast processor doing this, so I'm surprised something is taking this long. Thanks

it's one of the longest compiles in SL right up there with gcc. (I have a turion x86-64 x2 with 1G RAM for comparison).

It's a long compile, but if you've got an Athlon 64 X2 6400, you're right. That sounds like it's taking too long to compile. Report back if you see something that made it take so long to compile.

Have you topped out on RAM?

So, it looks like i've got available ram and no swap is being used at all. So I wouldn't think this is the issue. Anything else you might suggest I check?

See how many locales you are using in your system here: /etc/locale.gen The more you have, the longer it takes to compile.
Also post your CFLAGS (found in /etc/make.conf or typing emerge --info).
