How to Install ALSA 1.0.15

Postby sajellish » Sun Jan 20, 2008 17:17

I am new to this whole gentoo-emerge thingy. I had a lot of trouble configuring sound on my HP DV6616TX laptop on SUSE. Finally it boiled down to alsa 1.0.15 version. That is the only version of alsa that works on my system. I tried to use emerge, but the installation kept failing. Can someone suggest me a way. have Sabayon mini 3.4 by the way. The exact command and the output are as under............

Also if someone can suggest a better way of installing ALSA 1.0.15, it would be great.

# emerge -av =media-sound/alsa-driver-1.0.15

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

You can't install alsa-drivers when alsa is built into the kernel, recompile kernel without alsa than install alsa-drivers
http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/alsa-guide.xml

With mini it doesn't come with the sources so you have to install em before installing packages.
