Postby hempa » Sat Dec 29, 2007 19:56

hello i am trying to boost up mplayer so it will play every file i throw at it.
is there a super codec pack out there with all the video and audio codecs or do i have to install them one by one. And where should i look for the codecs?
i also need help with HOW to install them, right now i have installed mplayer with emerge. And do i have to emerge mplayer again after i have installed all the codecs.

The default mplayer in SabayonLinux is pretty well stocked with codecs.

Building up mplayer with other codecs than the default codecs is handled with the USE Flags set while emerging mplayer.

You can look at the available USE Flags for mplayer here at the Gentoo Portage Link.

You can also use eix to see which USE Flags are currrently set for mplayer:
Code: Select all
eix media-video/mplayer
Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L - Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E6750@ 2.66GHz
nVidia GeForce 7600 GS
2 GB RAM
