Switching to Dolphin

Postby Sabretooth » Wed Dec 12, 2007 5:34

I need a bit of help here! I abhor Konqueror, so I killed it using Portato and installed Dolphin as replacement. Dolphin in itself works fantastically, but can someone help in telling me how to assign Dolphin as the primary file manager? WIth Konqueror uninstalled, FSView took over opening the directories from the System Menu. I went to File Associations and changed nearly all entries under "media" and the "directory" and "system_directory" under inode to Dolphin (yes, I "moved" it up), but I get this:

If I try to open the Home directory via the System Menu, I get this: "/home/(username) is a folder, but a file was expected"
With Storage Media, I get this: "Malformed URL media:/"
The rest of the entries in the System menu give more or less the same response.

Halp! :(

Just a thought: Have you tried K Menu > Control Centre, then typed Dolphin into the Search box and checked the configuration for each of the entries in the Results box (Behaviour, File Manager, Fonts, Java & JavaScript, Paths, Plugins, Web Behaviour)? Also, if you've un-installed Konqueror, what happens if you type "Konqueror" into the Search box?

That's weird - typing Dolphin in shows no results, but I can see all the results (Behaviour, File Manager etc.) if I type Konqueror in. But Konsole says that "command not found" if I try to run Konqueror, so it's gone for good.

I also install dolphin and have not uninstalled Konqueror, however, when I open up media from the system menu, it opens up in Dolphin. However, if I choose to open up my 'home folder' it opens it up on Konqueror. The only thing I've done is gone through and changed associations. I think that konqueror is built into a lot of KDE 3 stuff, but Dolphin will be integrated for KDE4 (the second release candidate is now out).
