Image Viewer that merges with Konqueror

Postby hubmaster » Sat Oct 27, 2007 19:16

I remember that when I used SuSe 10.2, they had an image view that seemed to be built into Konqueror. If you had several images in one folder and wanted to scroll through all of them, it would be easy by clicking the forward or back button. Windows too has an image viewer built into Explorer. I was wondering if anybody can help me find the application that merges into Konqueror and can help me navigate thru my pictures folder. The way I have it now is a hassle as I have to view one picture, go back to the original folder, and then open the next picture.

I don't want to state the obvious, but did you look at the "View" menu in Konqueror? I find at least two modes directly related to viewing photos. My menus are Swedish, but an improvised translation would be "Picture Viewer" and "Photo Album" respectively.

I'm running KDE 3.5.8, but I think those modes were available also in earlier versions.

Have a play around with the following (I can't remember which particular combinations give you what, but you can find something to suit):

Settings > Configure Konqueror > Behaviour

Click on 'File Associations'

Open up the image list under 'Known Types' by clicking on the "+" sign

Click on an image type e.g. 'jpg'

Change 'Application Preference Order' if you prefer a specific viewer

Click on 'Embedding' tab

Untick 'Show file in separate viewer'

Tick 'Show file in embedded viewer'

Change 'Services Preference Order' as you wish.
