Suspend to Disk & RAM... KPowersave

It's really difficult to find good documentation regarding this subject, so I figured I'd ask here.
First off, is Suspend2 needed to get Suspendtodisk and toram working? If so, I'll emerge and come back with more questions.

Hmm, my lack of patience never works in my favor.
I emerged suspend2-sources which updated a hibernate script and perhaps something else... Now I boot to command line. This is exactly what was happening when I tried to upgrade from 3.4e to 3.4f. I unmerged suspend2-sources, but to no avail. Any idea how to get back to the desktop???

Anyone?
I've gotten SL to boot in interactive mode, but that's it... and KNetworkManager reports that NetworkManager is not running, thus no internet. What's wrong here?
