VirtualBox - Bridging network adapters

Postby cxbell » Mon Jul 02, 2007 10:10

Hi, I'm trying to get VirtualBox to work with a bridged network adapter as per the Gentoo howto
http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO:_VirtualBox#Network, biggest issue is that eth0 is running however it's not being launched from the init.d scripts as it would be in a typical gentoo environment. Has anyone had any experience of configuring this one? VirtualBox runs fine with a NAT config, however I want the virtual machine to have it's own IP address on the network as I'm testing some Active Directory integration against a Win2K3 AD VM.

Thanks for any assistance ;)

Will try it and tell you what I find , how etc . Busy playing with virtualbox now.

Not sure but think in the router or hub / modem / cable modem if you have mac adress blocking it has to be disabled or new mac adress needs to be added to trusted list if you have not done this already.

Many thanks, my understanding, from having read the VirtualBox howto's from Gentoo, is that in order to assign an IP address on your network to the virtual machine you need to create a virtual network adapter for virtual box to use and bridge this network adapter to your actual adapter. Anything more that I find I'll post.
