Hi

From what I can figure out Sabayon has this same problem when you use any virtual machine software. Some people even have this problem on there computers. Hopefully it will be fixed by the next version of Sabyon as it's sometimes useful to be able to use SabayonLinux in a virtual machine environment especially when you want to test things like world updates ;)

Cheers

VMWare owns!
It's the only one that currently supports the new libata drivers infrastructure. Use it! Vmware Server also works, and it's free.

3.3 mini and 3.3 dvd has the same as most people complained about not being able to boot and the searching for cd /dvd error.
Had a bumpy ride with 1.4 additions + installing then restart and mouse is insane = del vdi hd image and start over. 1.4 addition could not find the uninstall like in 1.3.8 .

Slow = if you have 2gb ram use max 768mb as 1gb for this = slow / erratic dvd disk reading etc. etc.
Might be bug in virtualbox program. Even happens on usb hd instead of internal and having vdi image on there.

3.4 loop3 works.

You can if you have 3.4 loop3 install it and only select kde and of the 6 new packages option select only internet/p2p.

This ends up as 1.8gb about or at least 1.8gb after I compressed / rar the file as a backup from 21gb vdi hd image.

Might be able to get away with 5gb to 8gb for 3.4loop3 with kde and only internet/p2p should be more than enough. Will check and confirm.

PS> libata = since 3.4 the scsi / sata interface is emulating the actual connection to the hd's so you would not need libata at all ie: ata / ide hd = /dev/sda or /dev/sdb or this is how I understand it likely I am wrong.
I ended up with a win95:cih-1106 virus warning with virtualbox 1.4 on windows and sabayon 3.4 loop3 guest. Can not find out where it comes from or even if it is serious but apparently avast antivir fixed it.
Have to check pclinuxos host and virtualbox 1.4 + 3.4loop3 guest .

Here is my latest 2 , 1gb unhappy / slow one , happy / 769mb ram.

I see inside the xml file the
Code: Select all
<SystemProperties HWVirtExEnabled="false" defaultMachineFolder="Machines" defaultVDIFolder="VDI" remoteDisplayAuthLibrary="VRDPAuth" />

false does not seem to be right ? not sure but have not found a way to change this in program ?

1gb unhappy was done with 1.4 on pclinux
768mb was made on windows
Attachments
small.xml.txt
Working 768mb just remove the .txt
(2.1 KiB) Downloaded 49 times
VirtualBox.xml.txt
Unhappy 1gb ram just remove the .txt
(1.32 KiB) Downloaded 51 times

For the laptop synaptics mouse pad and running virtualbox with a guest OS I have seen the mouse right click = not working.

Just noticed that if I press the FN / function button for alternative button use and then while holding the fn button in right click = working right click.

ie: fn press hold for 1 sec then while still holding fn press right mouse button / right click.

Doing it imediately or same time = not working without the 1 sec delay ?

Hope this helps.
