Open-VM-Tools installed, running but not working

I have Sabayon Linux running on VMWare workstation. I have installed open-vm-tools using portage. I added it to my default runlevel using rc-update. When the VM boots I can try to run it manually and it says it's already running but I still can't get the mouse to automatically switch between my desktop and the virtual machine. Any ideas?
