Virtualbox problem after upgrading

Postby javi » Thu Feb 26, 2009 4:47

I recently did a world update, which pulled in the 2.6.28 kernel. I could not use this kernel due to it making my USB keyboard go crazy. So I reverted to 2.6.27. However, when I tried to load the virtualbox driver, it gives the following error:

FATAL: Error inserting vboxdrv (/lib/modules/2.6.27-sabayon/misc/vboxdrv.ko): Invalid module format

I made sure to use "eselect" to set 2.6.27 as my default kernel. If I use portage (i.e. emerge virtualbox-modules), it works. However, the most recent version in portage is 2.0.6. If I emerge virtualbox-bin version 2.0.6, it is unable to open my virtual machines. Is there a solution for getting the modules for 2.1.2 without having to get it separately from SUN?

thanks

This isn't the answer you want but; I had problems with vitualbox upgrades from both entropy and portage so reverted to installing the latest version direct from the sun site *.run downloads. It seems to work very well and the install is easy. The only extra I had to do was add it to mask in entropy so that an equo world didn't try and downgrade it.
