Installing Sabayon in VMWare Wkstation 5.5 [Solved]

Postby sperry » Tue May 06, 2008 5:29

I'm trying to install Sabayon x86-1.1-Professional Edition in a VMWare Workstation 5.5 instance. Sabayon liveCd boots successfully. I trying to install using the Install on Disk option, I get to the point where I choose the option to Automatically partition my drives and receive the following error. No Drives found. "An error has occurred - no valid devices were found on which to create new file system...."

I'm sure this is something simple like maybe missing the proper VMWare device drivers. Anyone seen this.

Thanks in advance

Professional edition is way old and not even supported any more. Is there a reason as to why you picked that one?

just to add, the only applicable difference between professional and normal editions is kmyfirewall's default config (which is easy to do in loop2) and no compiz (which is easy to disable in loop2)

Actually, no reason at all. I assumed it was the most recent version. Obviously not.

Thanks for your reply. I will download a more current version and give it another try.
