Parallels Tools?

I've installed the Sabayon 3,4e from Linux magazine into a VM on my Mac using Parallels Desktop. In order to make the mouse work more smoothly and easily size the window from the Mac desktop you have to install the Parallels Tools. In Windows the functionality is included in the VM but with Linux you have to do it yourself. Unfortunately, knowing next nothing about Linux (I managed to remember ls, cd and man so far) I'm having problems getting past stage one.

OK,two things happens when I run the "Install Parallels Tools" from the Mac OS:

1. I get the following message on the window running the Linux VM:

To install Parallels Tools:
1. Run Terminal.
2. Mount cdrom.
3. Change the directory to cdrom.
4. Run the sh parallels-tools.run with root privileges.
5. Follow the instructions of the Parallels Tools Installer.

2. Inside the VM (i.e. in Linux) the KDE Daemon appears saying a new medium has been found and asking me what I want to do.

After a bit of trial and error I worked out to tell it to do nothing and opened a Terminal window where I carried out instruction 2 and got the message "only root can do that" and so I worked out how to log in as root and tried again and now in the Terminal window when I try and "mount cdrom." I get the message "mount: can't find cdrom. in /etc/fstab or /etc/mtab".

Ideally, somebody out there will be running this under Parallels but in any case, any help would be greatly appreciated.

the cdrom will be found in /media/
after putting the disk in do

ls /media/

That will tell you what to mount /media/<disk_name>.

In the end I opened it with the default tool (whose name escapes me) which allowed me to copy it to the media folder where I duly ran it from. Thanks for the hint - I looked everywhere for it until I noticed that the tool was showing me where it was even though I couldn't find the directory concerned in the terminal.

Since then, however, I get the localhost login rather than the GUI. How do I get to the GUI login?

I want to note that although it reads 3.4e on the case and on the DVD label, the version is 3.4F.
at least thats what my bootmenu tells me if i start it up.
I hope somebody can confirm this.
