KDE printer add fails permission problem

Postby hoodwink » Sat Aug 19, 2006 6:36

Maybe this is pretty standard on Gentoo KDE ??? I'm used to KDE prompting for a root password when necessary (other distros). Instead attempt to add a printer just fails. I haven't tried the http://localhost:631 path yet.

Update. Setup works via cups web interface, but cups doesn't have the complete list of epson printers presented by KDE. My priinter is cx4200 (offered by kde) but I had to use CX3200 via cups. Seems to work anyway.

You have to switch to Administrative Mode in the KDE Printing Panel.
