Any 'nix without vi/vim is beyond comprehension -- and Gnu systems should probably have emacs as obigatory out of respect.
why? Only because you like vi/vim and emacs and me not. Who is right?

will be there in final.
vagabondo wrote:The KDE menus are a mess.
The problem is: if I tweak the KDE menu, some new apps won't be showing in the right way. If I don't, the apps will be showing like their developers want.
vagabondo wrote:There needs to be kde-SabLin to automagically add/delete items from the KDE menu following emerege/unmerge.
Removing a .desktop file automatically reflects the removal in the Apps menu.

?? Have you run the Installer till the end?
vagabondo wrote:What is the point of asking which desktop when they are all installed? Instead of radio buttons why not checkboxes; then the user could specify what they wanted, e.g. one heavy and one light destop. If I have KDE/Koffice then the Gnome office tools should not be installed by default and vice versa. Similarly Kedit/Gedit Konqueror/Nautilus etc. This could speed up the installation a bit --it is very slow.
1 hrs and half on a 500€ PC is slow??? Have you ever tried to install MacOSX

?
Btw, the application selection will come, but first I want to integrate an Upgrade procedure.
vagabondo wrote:A utility should be provided to install optional stuff from the DVD/CD.
Why? You have a lot of software, you have Kuroo and Portage from shell. Why? If you want less, just get the miniEdition.
vagabondo wrote:The System module is not present for the KDE control panel.
So? I still can't understand if you want a very bloated LiveDVD or not

vagabondo wrote:Iam sure that the Broadcom wireless utilities were on the Live install, but they are not on the HDD install. (dmesg -- bcm43xx: Error: Microcode "bcm43xx_microcode5.fw" not available or load failed}
Yes that's a bug, /lib/firmware is empty, will be fixed in 24hrs.
vagabondo wrote:If there were tidied up KDE/Gnome-centric menus for the appropiate desktop, perhaps the Live install could have both side by side? I think that that would be less cluttered and more navigable.
That's not SL fault and I don't like dirty and counterproductive hacks.
vagabondo wrote:The default kernel has reiser4, but this is not an option for choosing which filesystem to create. Software RAID volumes are not detected. It is not obvious how to mount HDD filesystems with the Live install. The live install should offer to store the users' home directories and changed files from /etc/ to a removable media device.
Software RAID volumes are detected, the default kernel won't have reiser4 anymore starting from stable. I think that you need to read the extra documentation and re-read what you've written above

Mounting a filesystem? Just go to Storage Media in kde (or type: media:/)

vagabondo wrote:The blue KDE splash screen is a bit incongruous within the Sabayon Linux colour scheme.
will be worked out.
vagabondo wrote:There should be a Sabayon-default in the KDE theme manager. This would make it easier to e.g. select the Keramik window decoration without having to recreate Sabayon compatible colours.
Just save the Colours Scheme.
